Cagayan de Oro City – TESDA Region 10 in the hope of providing a sustainable solution against poverty, conducted the Poverty Alleviation and Reduction of Extremism through TVET in Muslim Mindanao (PARETMM) Program for Lanao del Sur Farmers held August 29 to September 1, 2018 in Davao City. The program intends to integrate the program interventions of the various government agencies and private sector to directly and holistically address poverty in Mindanao particularly in conflict affected areas. The 200 IDPs, Farmers from Lanao del Sur were given Trainers Training, Skills Training Program, Entrepreneurship, Product Development, Linkage with Business Sectors, Community of Best Practice and Capacity Building for Women.
According to the TESDA Chief Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong, these IDPs/Farmers were provided with competencies that will help them engage into agribusiness or enhance their skills in farming considering that this would create a ripple effect to the economic evolution in their province.
TESDA-10 Regional Director Tarhata S. Mapandi said, the three (3) day MTTP aims to capacitate the participants in the conduct of training and develop a pool of trainers to implement the agri-based products livelihood training program and give them the inspiration of appreciate the Training of Trainers (TOT) who will then be asked to share and transfer their knowledge to their fellow IPs and fellow Muslim who possess the potential or capability of become a multiplier trainer. She also mentioned that this program also prepares the participants develop competencies as agents of change.
